For tanks under 75g, I use HOB's.

Ac100
Marineland
Penguin
Regent
UGF's

I run these filters on my tanks:

Sponge filters on my small tanks

HOB:
3 - Aqua Clear 50's
1 - Penguin 350
1 - Penguin 200
1 - Emperor 400

Canisters:
2 - Fluval 205's
2 - Magnum 350's

working on finishing up a DIY filter for my turtle tank.

years ago i was excited to get my 29 gallon. Now it's to the point that I want all my tanks to be 3x their size! seriously considering building a DIY 250+ gallon plywood tank now that I have an empty basement to use!

indeed, but not nearly as much as a pre-made glass tank that size! the bigger you go the more sense it makes, so maybe 400 gallon instead of 250? that's saving some big money
